vOLUNTEER WITH THE BLACK ROSE
The Black Rose is run almost entirely by volunteers. Our organization only exists because of time and energy from folks giving back to our community. If you enjoy our concerts, jams, classes, and other events, won’t you consider helping? You can apply in person at any of our shows or by using the form below.
Here are some current volunteering opportunities. All of our openings require good communication and organization skills and the ability to communicate effectively by electronic means. We use email to coordinate most of our activities:
Social Media Manager
We are curently looking for someone to manage our social medai accounts. Duties include:
Training from previous manager on the procedure used to post on the various platforms (1 Zoom meeting should suffice).
Posting Black Rose events weekly on Facebook, Instagram, and X. Events include upcoming concerts, jams, Open Mics, Showcases, classes, and the occasional special event. All information used for these will be on this website and may be copied or reworded.
Monitoring user comments, questions, and feedback and either answering them directly, or communicating to an approriate board member.
Communicating with board liason to social media via a brief monthly report (several paragraphs in a email is adequate).
Total time is estimated to be 3 hours/week. Good computer and communication skills are necessary, and existing familiarity with the various social medai platforms a plus. Opportunity exists for this to grow into a board of directors position.
Member, Board of Directors
The Black Rose is managed by a board of volunteer directors who collectively help steer our musical ship. Duties include:
Attending a monthly board meeting and participating in discussions on various operational issues that arise. Many of these are also handled via email.
Helping to run our Friday night concerts - we have a rotating “responsible adult” for each show. You can even be an emcee if you’d like.
Taking on responsibility for the one or more of the tasks needed to run the organization such as membership director, website management, etc. that are split up among the board members - we are a working board. We currently need someone to be the liason to the board for our social media program.
Snack Bar Crew
We could use a few people helping out at the snack bar at our Friday night concerts. Duties include:
Baking goods and bringing them to the concert
Preparing the kitchen and setting out all the food and drinks
Selling food and drinks during the concert, especially during the busy time of the break
Cleaning up the kitchen afterwards
