The Black Rose Acoustic Society

For over 30 years, The Black Rose Acoustic Society has been the home of live, handmade acoustic music in the Pikes Peak Region. We host twice-monthly concerts, jams, and classes through the year. Nestled in the tall Colorado pines, the down-home atmosphere of our log-cabin concert hall provides a family-oriented setting unsurpassed in friendliness and congeniality.

vOLUNTEER WITH THE BLACK ROSE

The Black Rose is run almost entirely by volunteers. Our organization only exists because of time and energy from folks giving back to our community. If you enjoy our concerts, jams, classes, and other events, won’t you consider helping? You can apply in person at any of our shows or by using the form below.

Here are some current volunteering opportunities. All of our openings require good communication and organization skills and the ability to communicate effectively by electronic means. We use email to coordinate most of our activities:

  • COncert Accountant

We are currently looking for someone with an accounting or money handling background who can help out at our Friday night concerts. Tasks include:

    • Selling tickets, merchandise, and memberships

    • Working with the Square app for credit card sales, making change, and tracking patrons

    • Counting the money and seeing that it is secured at the end of the night

    • Filling out accounting paperwork for the show, including ticket sales, kitchen sales, merchandise, donations, and memberships

If you regularly attend our concerts anyway, this is a great way to see the show and save yourself the price of admission.

  • Member, Board of Directors

The Black Rose is managed by a board of volunteer directors who collectively help steer our musical ship. Duties include:

    • Attending a monthly board meeting and participating in discussions on various operational issues that arise. Many of these are also handled via email.

    • Helping to run our Friday night concerts - we have a rotating “responsible adult” for each show. You can even be an emcee if you’d like.

    • Taking on responsibility for the various tasks needed to run the organization such as membership director, website management, etc. that are split up among the board members - we are a working board. We currently need someone to manage our scholarship program.
