Description: If you’ve been wanting to attend the Swing Jam but are intimidated by all those fancy chords and upbeat rhythm, then this is the course for you. You will learn the proper right-hand “la pompe” technique, left-hand muting, and 7 closed-position moveable chord shapes that will allow you to play any swing song, no matter how complicated. All this while learning a new song each week that progressively adds more chord shapes. We’ll also get into some chord theory and show you how to recognize chord patterns when learning new songs, then substitute the really hard chords with ones that you know. This is a course in rhythm only. Leads will not be taught.
Prerequisites: Intermediate guitar level. Must be able to play barre chords.
What to Bring: Your own guitar (any model), music stand, and tuner
