Introduction to Swing

from 79.00

Are you envious of people who can play all those fancy jazz chords up the neck and feel stuck playing just open cowboy chords? Then this is the course for you! We will learn some basic closed position swing chords that can be applied to any swing tune, no matter how complicated. You will learn the "le pompe" gypsy jazz strum, left hand muting, and other techniques to develop your own rhythm style that will make people want to jump up and dance! We will learn 5 common swing tunes that will progress in complexity so that you will able to immediately apply what you learn and build up a repertoire of chords from week to week. Swing chord progressions will be analyzed so that the tunes can be learned, not just memorized. Common introductions, turn-arounds, and endings will be taught, allowing you to show up at any swing jam and look like a seasoned pro. The course is almost exclusively chords and rhythm, there will be little time for lead playing.
