MOONRISE OVER THE MOUNTAINS
Copyright Michael E. Walker 1999
Verse 1
Late at night you awaken me
looking so lovely,
"Let’s go outside
I’ve got a surprise."
The wind it whispers through the trees
We drop slowly to our knees
and you shy,
then show me why.
Chorus
From under the arms of Ponderosa,
a riot of flowers aglow in the night,
dancing colors in the moonlight,
above an eye of pearly white:
a moonrise over the mountains
with you tonight.
Verse 2
Ever so gradually
and then quite suddenly
the moon breaks free
and starts to fly.
The mountains reach so desperately
frosted white against a sea of sparkling light,
like jewels in the night.
Repeat Chorus
Bridge
In my dreams I see moonbeams
that teem in my bloodstream.
And it seems like destiny
that you should be here with me
to share this beautiful sight.
Verse 3
I start a fire, you move close to me.
I try hard but I still can’t see
the face of a man,
but I say I can.
Blue face, cheese pie
coyotes sing a lullaby
for you and I;
a natural high.
Repeat Chorus
Outro:
A moonrise over the mountains with you
tonight.
