Acoustic Eidolon Set to Perform at Annual Christmas Concert

Last year, in celebration of Valen- tine's Day, Black Rose had Acoustic Eidolon, one of three couples performing as part of the Couples in Love concert held at the spacious Armstrong Hall. We enjoyed that concert so much that we had to have Joe and Hanna come back. So for this year, in celebration of the holidays we're bringing back Joe Scott and Hanna Alkire to play for the Black Rose audience in the intimate, homey setting of the Black Forest Community Center. Joining Joe & Hanna for this show will be Celtic harpist Thomas Loefke from Berlin, Germany.  Acoustic Eidolon & Thomas have toured Europe together for the past 9 years and their new collaborative CD, “Friends Across The Ocean,” is the result.  The concert will feature music from this recording as well as a few tunes from Acoustic Eidolon’s two Holiday releases.

For those of you who aren't as familiar with them: Joe Scott performs on a unique, custom designed double-neck guitjo, a banjo/guitar combination created exclusively by Joe and deemed by USA Today as "a beautiful harp-like sounding instrument…. like nothing they've ever heard before." The double-neck guitjo has 14 strings. Joe can play both necks simultaneously, a technique he developed over time which continues to awe his peers as well as Acoustic Eidolon's audiences.

Hannah Alkire was classically trained on the cello. She studied with G. Magyar of the Hungarian String Quartet and has won accolades worldwide for her exquisite tone and mesmerizing emotion she puts into each performance. Her inquisitive nature has prompted her to take her cello playing into uncharted territories, risky moves that have continued her reputation as a tour-de-force in cello performance.

Thomas Loefke has won international awards for his Celtic harp artistry and has released multiple CDs. He tours Europe with his group, Norland Wind, which includes band members such the Duggan brothers (from the Irish group "Clannad") and Maire Breatnach, the original fiddler from "Riverdance."

Acoustic Eidolon calls Colorado home though they have performed extensively throughout the world. They have nine CD's and one DVD to their credit. With a repertoire that defies categories, their signature sound knows no bounds as their music travels through Celtic, World, Latin and Folk music influences. At times, even some Asian tonal poems and hard rock are blended into the mix. Dirty Linen Magazine praises them as "a sumptuous musical feast." They are described by the Swallow Hill Music Association as "an evening of brilliant instrumentality," and Georgia's Good Life Magazine enthuses, "Acoustic Eidolon offers concert-goers a chance to absorb some of the most powerful and intriguing music on the scene today."

The convergence of their talents took Joe and Hannah a step further, sharing not only a musical vision but a life vision. They were married in 2001. Joe and Hannah's live performances are a direct reflection of their musical and emotional alliances. It is Acoustic Eidolon's crowning feat that in their performances, they create a seamless experience from their radically different musical vantage points. Their passionate live music and thoughtful, humorous rapport stand them above the crowd, engaging their audiences in spontaneous applause, laughter and appreciation. In their words, "We consider it a great honor and privilege to travel and share our music and meet so many wonderful people all over this world. There is no other experience like doing what you love with the one you love."

This evening will start out with a holiday potluck, so bring your best Christmas goodies to share –appetizers, crockpots, cookies, cake- whatever you enjoy during the holidays followed by a Christmas concert. We'll put on the coffee, have some punch and enjoy an evening of great music and food in the nostalgic atmosphere of the Black Forest Community Center.
