   Who we are

The third annual Pikes Peak Sacred Harp Singing again proved to be an unqualified success.  13 leaders of 26 registered singers from the length of the Front Range led 56 songs - 22 of which were from the Cooper Book.  The local group wanted some exposure to some of the great music that resides in that book and we got a bonanza.  The folks who sing in Denver and Boulder use it, but nowhere near as effectively as we did.  Additionally, local singers were introduced to some very complex fuguing tunes in both the Denson and the Cooper books  led by some very serious singers.  Progress was made in adding both to our repertoire and our approach to the music.  Dinner on the ground at noon proved to be bountiful and excellent fare.  Finally, at the "after party", those who stayed for the social following the singing enjoyed some really excellent leftovers and an hour of singing great gospel music from the Harp Of Ages hymnal.  Available at the singing were copies of Kathryn Eastburn's new book "The Sacred Feast – Reflections on Sacred Harp Singing and Dinner on the Ground”.  Some of these books are still available at discount pricing.  For more information contact me as listed below.

Our monthly singings continue on second Sundays from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Pikes Peak Primitive Baptist Church 12th and Pikes Peak, Colorado Springs. For additional information contact Pete Mathewson at 719-469-5241 or 71mgbgt41@gmail.com.
