About Dan

Dan began playing the ukulele at age 5 and progressed to guitar at age 13. His intention then was to be a “cowboy”, playing guitar, riding a horse, and twirling a rope. Somehow the cowboy phase passed and left him as a hooked-on guitar guy. He has never regretted staying with the guitar. At age 14, Dan heard Chet Atkins and was mesmerized by his sounds. Soon after that he was involved with bands and played rock, jazz, and country for many years after. During those earlier growing years Dan was able to do studio sideman work on many private labels. He produced a CD of his own Guitar Moods comprised of mostly originals and a few public domain tunes.

Dan Kirchner's musical experiences have a very broad range, performing professionally with George Morgan, Cal Smith, Joe and Rose Maphis, Erlene Mandrell, Vic Ames, Penny DeHaven, Shari Pond, Bobby Lewis, The Lonzo and Oscar Show, Billy Walker, Charlie Walker, O.B. McClinton, Pee Wee King, Kenny Starr, Johnny Russell, Kenny Dale, Dave and Sugar, The Ferris State Chorale and for the Central Michigan University President's Parties. He has performed for movie personalities Dick Sargent and Mariette Hartley and has been featured in numerous music festivals, shows and concerts.

Dan has written two volumes of music. His "Music From the Soul" contains some forty compositions and he continues to create exciting new pieces.
