meetBLACKROSE

Mickey Stinnett, Hope Grietzer, Dick Carlson, Greg Reed, and Charlie Hall

Who plays what and why...

Dick Carlson
Bass

Dick grew up in Nebraska, and was the bassist for the renowned Omaha swing band Sour Mash. He must have been a pretty good basketball player too, his high school coach was quoted as saying, "Dick almost never shoots when he doesn't have the ball."
Dick is also the tallest member of Black Rose, which is extremely handy if something should need to be retrieved from a high place.

Dick play bass because he can.

Hope Grietzer
Fiddle, Vocals

Hope got started playing traditional music in her native upstate New York. After years of training in classical violin, she started a long and painful battle to overcome its effects, and discovered old-time string band music.
Hope is the only female in the group and therefore always gets her own hotel room when the band travels, the other four guys aren't bitter at all about sharing the "other" room.

Hope plays fiddle because she can.

Charlie Hall
Guitar, Mandolin, Cittern, Vocals

Charlie is a native Floridian and a French Horn player in a former life. He started playing bluegrass in 1991 after a cathartic experience involving a chainsaw, a broccoli bearing the likeness of Bill Monroe, and Kenny Rogers' Big Note Edition of "Rocky Top".
Charlie also enjoys barefoot walks on the beach, puppies, and sunsets...no, wait, that's somebody else.

Charlie plays guitar, mandolin, and cittern because he can.

Greg Reed
Mandolin., Guitar, Vocals

Greg is a native East Tennessean that is trying to adjust to life outside the South, but the rehabilitation has to this point not worked (just goes to show, you can take a guy out of the south, we'll leave it at that). He joins Black Rose with a long history of playing in acoustic bands in Tennessee and Colorado.
He brings to the group an unyielding and unnatural affection for Moon Pies.

Greg plays mandolin and guitar because he can.

Mickey Stinnett
Dobro, Banjo, Guitar, Mandolin, Vocals

Mickey was born and raised in Virginia. Having been raised in a rural area and possessing a very short attention span he bounced around from instrument to instrument until finally settling on none. Mickey brings to Black Rose an extensive Elvis memorabilia collection and a really tired old trail horse named Paddy.

Mickey plays dobro, banjo, guitar, and mandolin because, well, he just can't stay focused for very long.
